Cultivation
Khapli wheat, also known as Emmer wheat, is an ancient, traditional variety cultivated mainly in Maharashtra. It is sown during the Rabi season (October–December) and harvested by March–April. Khapli wheat is grown using minimal chemical inputs, often through natural or organic farming methods. This hardy crop requires less water and is resistant to pests and diseases, making it ideal for sustainable farming. The grains are long, reddish-brown, and rich in fibre, proteins, and complex carbohydrates, making Khapli a highly nutritious wheat variety.
